Ticking bedspread and pillow shams

Here is the finished product ! The fabric I wove earlier in this blog I thought I would show how it came out as a bedspread and used in the pillow shams. On top of the ticking pillow shams is solid red rust cotton shams I wove earlier this year . set of two left.I use mother of pearl shell buttons for the pillow opening.

Old Time Bobbin winder

This is  an old  piece of weaving equipment with an old spool of weaving yarn still in its original wrapper.These were given to me by various people who did not want to throw them away but thought since I weave and their mother or aunt use to weave then I would want to have them. Boy !are they right!I just love my old things.They tell me how hard  they worked and what pride they had in creating the items that they felt their family would enjoy. To use this bobbin winder you have to make paper bobbins to hold the yarn . It is then removed off the shaft and put into the weaving shuttle. What a lot of use this winder must gave seen. Recorded weaving projects

 How many weavers record their work ? I have notebooks of past projects with notes so to help me in my future projects . I also repeat my fabric designs and as I get older I don’t always remember the epi or ends per inch . Also the color ways or dye recipes . Here is my notebook closet . I started out  with journals but I grew as I like to keep a piece of the fabric also recorded. Drop me a line or photo of your records!
