New England Crafters blog Challenges added to my blog list

New England Team Challenge is a team I belong to on the web site called Esty.com. It is just like it sounds, New England crafts made in Vt, Ma , Me , Ct,and RI . A team of sellers and buyers wanting to support local crafts.
The weekly team challenge is to bring to attention Maple Syrup and Mud season here in New England. So the color brown was picked .
I work in a lot of shades of brown as you know .

This is  an old  piece of weaving equipment with an old spool of weaving yarn still in its original wrapper.These were given to me by various people who did not want to throw them away but thought since I weave and their mother or aunt use to weave then I would want to have them. Boy !are they right!I just love my old things.They tell me how hard  they worked and what pride they had in creating the items that they felt their family would enjoy. To use this bobbin winder you have to make paper bobbins to hold the yarn . It is then removed off the shaft and put into the weaving shuttle. What a lot of use this winder must gave seen. Recorded weaving projects

 How many weavers record their work ? I have notebooks of past projects with notes so to help me in my future projects . I also repeat my fabric designs and as I get older I don’t always remember the epi or ends per inch . Also the color ways or dye recipes . Here is my notebook closet . I started out  with journals but I grew as I like to keep a piece of the fabric also recorded. Drop me a line or photo of your records!
