January February are hard months here in Maine that make you appreciate the summers . At my window I have hand woven curtains that are cotton and wool . The wool is a singles from Harrisville Designs . I hand dyed it with Knotweed during the summer . It is a lovely soft gray color and I lately beat it on the loom so to give a Lacey effect . Your life is important and what you put around you and in your body matters a great deal. Todays fibers of polyester ,Dacron, nylon were all developed after the Second World War . Scientist developed these to improve our lives and make for better defenses. “Nylon won the war” was a slogan from back then . Parachutes ,nylon stockings, newer fabrics.  My argument is still , these have helped mankind but let us not throw out the old technology, mainly natural fibers. We still sweat and shiver from the cold so you can not replace the wool and silk that mankind so cleverly has used for centuries. Eating healthy is important for the body and brain to function . Eating healthy foods and  unprocessed foods .Here I baked this morning Cornbread for breakfast that we will eat with some leftover bits of  locally grown smoked ham butt . The cornmeal is “ Abenaki Flint “ cornmeal  I don’t drink coffee any more . I drink black tea with Dried stinging nettles  I harvested and dried the nettles when visiting my son and his family while out on Orcas Island ,located in the Puget Sound north of Seattle , Washington  Stinging Nettles have a lot of good nutrients that are mild compared to some other herbs I have used.  Anyway here’s to a hearty breakfast and a Happy New Year !  Comment below I would like to hear from you .

Then I visited Buckwheat Blossom Farm from Wiscasett, Maine  and found her having her Coop worth sheep  wool dyed with indigo , a calm grey blue ,like fog on the coast . Another great color for my shawls and wraps . Talking with her made me feel confident that we could work together to make beautiful items .
