 The snow and cold weather are here! Below zero ! Weaving as a lifestyle keeps your thoughts on bright colors and new projects that transcend the dreary colorless out of doors . January February are hard months here in Maine that make you appreciate the summers . At my window I have hand woven curtains that are cotton and wool . The wool is a singles from Harrisville Designs . I hand dyed it with Knotweed during the summer . It is a lovely soft gray color and I lately beat it on the loom so to give a Lacey effect . Leave a comment of what you think of my curtains . I asked my son who lives on Orcas Island in WASHINGTON state to bring  me a Madrone branch last Christmas . I know that may seem strange to some of you but I had this idea in my mind  to take this beautiful branch and weave a section of in for a wall hanging.   Madrone branch with leaves and my weaving  I used some of my hand dyed wool  The hand dyed wool I used plants found in my neighborhood  Plants that I used were mainly Japanese Knotweed and  Goldenrod  I mix my yarns with iron to “ sadden” the color  The blue green is a commercial yarn  Leave a comment below I’d like to hear from you 

Two pictures of my work of weaving at the loom this fall . I am making a hand dyed wool rug . The yarn on the loom is 8/4 poly/cotton and the wool strips are sewn together in a random fashion . I am using blues , browns , greens , with a dark red and pumpkin colors .This will be the last of this colorway as the wool strips I have dyed will be all used up to make this rug .  Weaving at the loom this time of year is my favorite as the sun comes in and warms my back as I sit and weave.

My Burnt Orange Poncho of Hand woven cotton bamboo and locally sourced alpaca yarn is on my website .Limited production so when it is gone ....  These are yummy to the touch and full of eye catching texture.
