Work in all weather

Here is Andy this morning working on a piece of recycled copper sheeting . Something is going to be created out of it ??  He works in all weather and conditions .


Andy doesn't let the weather stop him 
When he was in his late twenties he fished for King crab up in Alaska 
Home port was Dutch Harbor where later the TV show " Deadliest Catch " was filmed 
He fished there for five years 
I went up to Dutch Harbor with our oldest son and pregnant with our middle child 
We later flew back to Seattle and bought 30 acres on Orcas Island , Washington 
I had our middle son as a home birth on the island 
That same son lives there now working as a metal artist

This is  an old  piece of weaving equipment with an old spool of weaving yarn still in its original wrapper.These were given to me by various people who did not want to throw them away but thought since I weave and their mother or aunt use to weave then I would want to have them. Boy !are they right!I just love my old things.They tell me how hard  they worked and what pride they had in creating the items that they felt their family would enjoy. To use this bobbin winder you have to make paper bobbins to hold the yarn . It is then removed off the shaft and put into the weaving shuttle. What a lot of use this winder must gave seen. Recorded weaving projects

 How many weavers record their work ? I have notebooks of past projects with notes so to help me in my future projects . I also repeat my fabric designs and as I get older I don’t always remember the epi or ends per inch . Also the color ways or dye recipes . Here is my notebook closet . I started out  with journals but I grew as I like to keep a piece of the fabric also recorded. Drop me a line or photo of your records!
